The customer is a popular online jewellery brand, catering to developing, designing and retailing contemporary jewelry through a mobile and web platform.

Test automation case study

THE CHALLENGE

Being a online only store, the customer had a challenge of Conversion Optimization. They used to conduct manual testing and were trying to move towards automation. They had hired couple of automation engineers for automation, but the coverage was minimal. The customer was going for tech upgrade Magento 1 to Magento 2 and wanted all functionalities to be intact. Page load time was very high, posing to be another challenge to be resolved.

THE SOLUTION

We were contracted to the customer with test automation for both the web application and the mobile sites. Leveraging algoQA and in 4 weeks, we covered test automation for the full application (included aspects like Thumbnails, Promo Code, Offers, Banners, Product Catalog and Chat) and also included custom test scenarios.
We were a well integrated part of their SPRINT cycles and SCRUM process. Along with working on the Conversion Optimization, we also covered Security and UI based Functional Test Automation, Chatbot Testing and Automated and Tested CRON Jobs. The Magento upgrade was completed without losing any functionalities,
We also ensured that daily critical events were well executed and the Google Tag Managers functioned appropriately as and when the events occurred.

THE RESULTS

Our test automation efforts helped the customer speeding testing cycle time, while keeping pace with application changes. Here are the benefits delivered to the client:

  • With minimal inputs, algoQA generated over 9,000 test cases, 100,000 test steps along with datasets and executable (automated) test scripts.
  • 200 defects captured, 100% test coverage and saved 80% testing and test automation costs.
  • We monitored applications 24/7 and automated CRON jobs. Google events triggered in time so that they have accurate analytics. Pagespeed time was reduced from the very high 15 seconds to a quick load time of 7 seconds, radically improving the website’s performance.
